EMU announces repavement project, campus street and parking lot closures begin May 4

Eastern Michigan University announced in a campus-wide email on May 1, 2026, that it will begin a project to pave and refinish several parking lots and campus streets during May.

The email said that this project will help create smoother and safer campus parking lots and streets.

From May 4-15, the Pease parking lot will be fully closed. This will include all parking areas for guests, commuters, faculty and staff.

From May 11-29, these campus streets will be closed intermittently:

  • East Circle Drive
  • Best Drive
  • St. Johns Dock Drive
  • Judy Sturgis Hill Circle and Dock
  • Sill Dock Drive

A map of the listed areas can be found here.

All closures will be clearly marked, and detours will be mapped out for road closures. The email encouraged anyone visiting campus to plan additional time into their commute to accommodate the repavement projects.

Anyone with questions or concerns about the projects can contact Chris Longerbeam of the Physical Plant by calling 734-487-3584.
