Ypsilanti Police Department responds to a shooting complaint

On the night of May 30, 2026, a man was found with several gunshot wounds.

According to a news release from the City of Ypsilanti, The Ypsilanti Police Department arrived in the 900 block of West Michigan Avenue at 6:45 p.m. after receiving a complaint of a shooting. Once on scene, the YPD found a male victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.

The YPD does not believe that the shooting was random, and believes the suspect and the victim knew each other.

The investigation remans open and active.
