Double trash week returns to Ypsilanti, Aug. 24

Double Trash Week allows residents to set out two times the normal amount of trash on their regular trash day.

During the week of Aug. 24, 2026, residents in Ypsilanti that use curbside trash services can set out their trash bin on their regular trash day. In addition, they can set out two bulk items and up to three 33-gallon garbage bags. The 33-gallon garbage bags should be between 2-4 feet away from the trash bin.

The City of Ypsilanti has reminders for residents who wish to set out bulk items on their website.

The reminders include:

  • Carpets and padding must be rolled and bound by tape or twine and be no more than four feet in length and two feet in diameter.
  • Refrigerators, freezers, a/c units and dehumidifiers must have freon removed.
  • Refrigerators and freezers must have their doors removed.
  • Mattresses and box springs must be wrapped in plastic and taped shut or be placed in an industry plastic bed bug bag.

There will be no scheduled bulk item pick up Friday, Aug. 28, 2026.
