Ypsilanti to celebrate Fourth of July with parade

This year will mark the 96th annual Ypsilanti Fourth of July Parade in downtown Ypsilanti.

From live music to vintage vehicles to the Detroit Tigers mascot, the Ypsilanti Fourth of July Parade is open to any and all residents of Ypsilanti who wish to celebrate with the community. The parade will take place on West Cross Street, Oakwood Street and Depot Town. Attendees do not need to pay to observe the parade.

At 10:15 a.m., there will be a concert from the Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra, the Ypsilanti Youth Choir and a reading of the Declaration of Independence from the Ypsilanti chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. after the performances. Guests should expect to see floats, old cars, veterans, Rosie the Riveters, Eastern Michigan University President Dr. Brendan Kelly, Ypsilanti's oldest Centenarian Gordron Cahours and much more.

Additionally, Debbie Dingell, Ypsilanti's U.S. Congresswoman, will be participating in the parade. She has been in the Ypsilanti Fourth of July Parade in previous years and is continuing her tradition. Mallory McMorrow, a member of the Michigan Senate, will also be a part of the parade.

The Ypsilanti District Library is participating in the Fourth of July parade, too. The library's Bookmobile will be part of the show. Those who want to join the YDL in the parade will need to arrive on the north side of Cross Street by 10 a.m. It is recommended that those who want to join should bring a bike or wagon if possible because there will be red, white and blue streamers they can use to decorate their wheels. However, walking next to the Bookmobile is also an option.

The Ypsilanti Fourth of July Parade is Saturday, July 4, 2026, on West Cross Street.
