Do you know what today is? Hint: It is not just another Tuesday. Today is Michigan's primary Election Day, which means voters across the state are tasked with narrowing down candidates for November's midterm election.
Data shows that only 27% of Michigan voters went to the polls at the 2022 primary, compared to 57% at the same year's general election. But primaries are important. They determine which partisan candidate will represent your party in November, and in Ypsilanti, they will decide Ypsilanti's City Council and mayoral race.
Also on the ballot lies the future of Michigan's gubernatorial race, along with other state and federal congressional races, including a key contest for Michigan's U.S. senator.
