Welcome back, eagles!
I hope you all enjoyed a fun, restful and fulfilling summer. Between heat waves, wildfire smoke-filled days and the cyclosporiasis outbreak, it was certainly an unusual summer. Personally, I spent mine in Midland, Michigan, completing a reporting internship at the Midland Daily News. In my internship, I learned valuable skills and journalistic insight, all of which I'm looking forward to incorporating into what we do here at The Eastern Echo. In addition, The Echo published online all summer.
The Eastern Echo is Eastern Michigan University's independent, student-run newspaper, but we are a lot more than just your college news publication. We also have the scoop on what is happening in Ypsilanti, bringing you the latest campus and community news. You can find us weekly in print at newsstands located on and off campus and daily online at easternecho.com.
While I'm sad to say goodbye to warm days and long summer nights, I'm excited to begin a new school year. Whether you are a veteran EMU student or stepping foot on campus for the first time this semester, here at The Eastern Echo, we have plenty of tips and tricks to help you find success this year. Take a look throughout this special edition of The Echo: we've chocked it full of resources, guides and our own staff recommendations to support your personal and academic goals at EMU.
