Eastern Michigan University’s Students Organize for Syria chapter will hold their first event "Tea with a Syrian" as part of national Syrian Solidarity week from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in room 104 in the Student Center.
The Office of Nutrition Services will hold its second annual 5K Fun Run and Open House. Registration for the run. The Open House will start at 3 p.m. and the run will start at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the ONS offices, 108 Roosevelt Hall.
Eastern Michigan University’s baseball team was unable to keep pace with the Indiana Hoosiers on Wednesday afternoon and was defeated by a score of 9-1, the second loss to the Hoosiers in two days.

The Echo asked students: What is your all time favorite movie and why?
“If I had to pick one right now off the top of my head, I’d say “Mrs. Doubtfire”. I really enjoyed that movie. The message, I think, really hits home. Plus, it isn’t one of those goofy adventures where the protagonist is trying to pretend to be someone else and they screw everything up. The guy actually pulls it off for most of the time and you’re rooting for him, because you know why he’s doing it. There’s something heartfelt about the message that movie portrays.”
“I don’t really watch that many movies, but I do love the “Harry Potter” series. I grew up with it, so it’s something that has always been familiar with me. I just like the fantasy world. I really like the dystopian societies. Something that’s not really real kind of gets me out of my head.”
“My favorite movie would be “Amalie,” which is a French movie that won an Oscar for best foreign film, in 2000 I think. I like it because it doesn’t look like most other movies that are made here. The other reason is it’s just very charming and light-hearted and memorable. I saw it years ago and I still remember it and think about it. I thought it was a good movie that addresses some fundamental things that never really get old.”
“My favorite movie is “The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. As a kid I bonded with my mom over it and it’s just always been one of my favorite movies. And just seeing all the ninja stuff as a kid.”
“I would probably be “Second Hand Lions” because it’s not a very well known movie, but it has a lot of heart and a lot of soul. The characters are very kooky but very relatable. It’s about this young boy whose mother drops him off for the summer to live with his two crazy uncles who, apparently, have come into millions of dollars. And they had been absent for 40 years; nobody knew where they were. So, it’s his story of coming of age and learning the truth behind where they were all those years. It’s very heart-warming.”
“It’s not one movie. It’s the “Lord of the Rings” series, because I really like fantasy.”

Silent protesters sat in on the Student Senate’s regular meeting and the impeachment resolution against student body president Desmond Miller made its way to the vice president Tuesday evening.
David Kostelancik, the former Director of Russian Affairs for the U.S. State Department and current U.S. adviser to the Helsinki Commission, gave a lecture at Pray-Harrold on Tuesday night. The event covered the relationship between Russia and the United States, specifically how that relationship changed once the war in Ukraine started.

“Playing an instrument, because I think having the ability to learn an instrument is unique and it would be a lot of fun to learn to play. It’s something that I could do for my whole life.”
“For myself, personally, I would want to learn a new skill for oil painting because I’m an artist. It’s something I’ve always loved to do and it would be cool if EMU offered more art classes than it does.”
