The Eastern Michigan’s (12-11, 7-5) women’s basketball team defeated the Bowling Green Falcons (8-15, 1-10) on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green. The Eagles were led by Jenna Annecchiarico’s 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Areanna Combs added 20 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (12-12, 7-6) fell to the Akron University Zips on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. The Eagles only had one double-digit scorer in the game as forward Areanna Combs dropped a game-high 23 points, four assists and two steals in the loss. Shaunay Edmonds had a team-high 15 points for the Zips.

The Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team defeated the Western Michigan Broncos on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. The Eagles have now won three of their last five games, with a 4-8 overall conference record. Western Michigan came into this game with an overall record of 11-13 and a 4-7 record in the MAC.

The efficient second half scoring propelled EMU to a road win at McGuirk Arena against the Chippewas men's basketball who were 11-1 at home going into the game. The Eagles shot 55% and outscored CMU by 10 after halftime to win 73-70. Ty Groce scored 22 with 12 rebounds, while Boubacar Toure scored 20 with 13 rebounds.

This was a challenging game for the Eagles considering their top two scorers Aaliyah Stanley and Arenna Combs were out.

With both teams on a two-game losing streak, they will be looking to get back in the win column, as Western Michigan will be also looking to break even on their conference record.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (10-10, 5-4) women’s basketball team has split their last two games, as they defeated the Toledo Rockets on the road, 77-62, before falling to the Akron Zips in overtime last Saturday. The Eagles were led by Arenna Combs versus the Rockets as she finished with 27 points. Juanita Agosto had 21 points against Akron.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (11-10, 1-7) men’s basketball team snapped their seven-game losing streak with a 61-57 victory over the Toledo Rockets (11-11, 3-6). Yeikson Montero led the Eagles with 26 points, two steals and one block in the win. He shot 75% from the field and 62.5% from 3-point range, scoring 20 points in the second half.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (9-9, 4-3) women’s basketball team came back from losing against Central Michigan last Wednesday, Jan. 22 by taking the win against Northern Illinois (5-13, 1-6) on Jan, 25. This was a home game as the Eagles celebrated National Women and Girls in Sports Day and the victory. This is the women’s first win against Northern Illinois since March of 2018.

A few days ago, Bleacher Report announced that multiple teams in the NBA were looking to target Pistons guard Derrick Rose for a trade. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic are all in dire need of a guard with Rose’s talents and could provide assets in return that would aid the Pistons. First round draft picks and/or young talent would likely be Detroit’s asking price, as Rose is a pivotal piece of their basketball team.

The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team hosted the Central Michigan Chippewas on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at the Convocation Center for the EMU Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closing Celebration. CMU closed out the 89-82 win with free throws and remained undefeated against the MAC.

Head coach Rob Murphy reacted to the loss: “Tonight, when Ball State was open, they knocked it down. When we had opportunities, we didn’t. That’s the bottom line.”

Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball defeated Miami (Ohio) University in a blowout Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the Convocation Center. The win gives the Eagles its third MAC victory and Eastern Michigan now has a 3-1 MAC record. A successful first quarter for the Eagles was the start of the blowout. EMU scored 29 points in the first quarter.

The final score was 194.875-193.325 in favor of the Eagles, who were led by Jada Rondeau, Emili Dobronics, Caitlin Satler, Kara Roberts and others.
