Local Ypsilanti area band, Stormy Chromer, performed at their album release party at the Blind Pig on Saturday night in Ann Arbor for their debut album titled, “A tale of two mouths.” The album was recorded at Solid Sounds Studios, and engineered by Josh Wiechman. Stormy Chromer is made up of four main members Amin Lanseur, Spencer Hanson, Ryan King, and Brendan Collins. Lanseur and Hanson are both music students at EMU.

In Early September University Christian Fellowship’s annual street carnival shutdown Saint John Street on EMU’s campus. The carnival brought attention to an otherwise quiet campus home. The painted white house has sat on St. John Street across from Best Hall going on 16 years, and for it being so close to campus the home has gone unnoticed more often than it goes noticed. The home can however be noticed for its long blue sign that runs the length of the porch and it reads, “University Christian Fellowship.” University Christian Fellowship (UCF) is a faith based campus organization.

On Wednesday Sept. 21 an informational meeting for Coming Out, Being Out will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Center, Rm 350. Also coffee with EMU's Chief Information Officer will be held in Halle Library from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Rm 301.

On Wednesday, Sept. 14, EMU campus based organization, Campus Life, held Campus Jam -- an annual free interactive mini carnival held at the Student Center. This event gives students and faculty a fun opportunity to connect with one another as well as various student based organizations.

On Sept. 14, the Latin Student Association (LSA) gathered outside of Best Hall to throw an Independence Day Celebration. The successful sovereignty of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Mexico were honored at this event. These Latin American countries memorialize their acquired liberty on Sept. 15. with Mexico observing their freedom on Sept. 16.

Friday September 9th, the EMU Student Center premiered Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. The film raked in over 179 million US dollars during its opening weekend in early May, so writers Joe and Anthony Russo can most definitely count this film as a success.

Discrimination is alive and well in the world, but not tolerated on Eastern Michigan University's campus. Students and patrons of the campus are encouraged to express themselves freely with out fear of discrimination. Throughout this past year the change in signage of many unisex restrooms to gender neutral restrooms across campus has been one display of EMU’s stance on discrimination.

The Color Run came to Ypsilanti, Michigan on June 25th. The event is a 5k run where participants are showered with colors as they reach different check points in the course. Early Saturday morning participants of the Color Run ran through Eastern Michigan University's campus eventually finishing at Frog Island Park where a color filled concert was held, and several vendors had tents set up. Wave after wave of participants began either walking or jogging the 5 kilometer course in their white shirts. Most participants were anxious to get to the next color station and add to their already color washed attire.
