Eastern Michigan University Police Chief Bob Heighes announced last week that the Department of Public Safety plans to add 10 new officers to their police force by September 2014, with the intention of ramping up off-campus patrols and creating an additional crime response unit dedicated to investigating high-profile crimes.

The opening reception of “Non-Text”, was held in the Eastern Michigan University Gallery on Tuesday evening. The exhibit features pieces that use text, typography and handwriting to create visual works of art.
Campus Life welcomed “The Dish” blogger, journalist and author Andrew Sullivan as a guest lecturer on the night of Nov. 12. Sullivan’s lecture revolved around the ideals and philosophy of conservatism.
The Porter Chair Speaker Series welcomed filmmaker Dan Habib on Wednesday night to the Roosevelt Hall Auditorium.
The Native American Student Organization hosted the annual Native American Fall Feast on Tuesday night. In addition to the traditional Native American cuisine, the event also included the music of the culture performed by Painted Rock.
The Women’s Resource Center hosted the final event in their domestic violence awareness month series on Wednesday. The event was a screening of the documentary “No Way Out But One.” After the documentary screened, WRC coordinator Ellen Collier lead a discussion about domestic violence and of the issues raised by the film.
