Housing fair to be held Feb. 6 in Student Center

This year, Eastern Michigan University’s Student Government Association is hosting a housing fair to allow to students a chance to browse off-campus and on-campus living quarters while asking questions about the safety and other regulations provided by the residences.

Marty Raymond, a professor at the School of Nursing at Eastern Michigan University, discussed the connection between poverty and health on Tuesday for the Honors College’s star lecture series on poverty.

Self Defense Training— A free self defense training class will be offered on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 7-9 p.m. in room 208 at the Warner Gym, and Thursday, Jan. 30 from 7-9 p.m. Gym B Warner at Eastern Michigan University. Police Blotter

Jan. 18 Police encountered a man yelling with a beer can in his hand at Ballard and West Cross streets at 8:38 p.m. Officers calmed the man down and found that he had warrants out for his arrest. The man was too inebriated to be taken to jail, so police released him to the hospital with a citation for drunkenness.

Purdue rocked by school shooting

A school shooting on Tuesday rocked Purdue University. According to CNN, a suspect was taken into custody after the shooting took place near the electrical engineering building. The Indiana school’s police chief said that the shooter targeted a single person, then left and was arrested by a city policeman.

Two Mexican citizens who were arrested at the border on Tuesday were connected to the recent Target security breach that compromised an estimated 110 million customers’ credit card information.

EMU students join with Red Cross to address fire prevention
