May 9

Officers spotted a man walking with an open beer can near Washington Street and Pearl Street at 8:57 p.m. The incident was documented, and the subject was warned and released.

Police stopped a suspect near Washtenaw Avenue and Ballard Street at 10:35 p.m. for consuming intoxicants in public. The suspect’s Budweiser was emptied and he was warned and released.

May 10

Officers pulled a vehicle over near Hamilton Street and Michigan Avenue at 1:49 a.m. for running a red light. After stopping the vehicle, the driver fled from the police on foot. The passenger of the vehicle claimed he did not know the driver, met him in the Meijer parking lot and paid him $5.00 for a ride. Police released the passenger after documenting his identity and impounded the vehicle the suspect was driving. The driver is being sought for resisting an officer.

Police arrested a suspect for driving with blood alcohol content over .17 percent at 2:41 a.m. The suspect was pulled over near Washtenaw Avenue and Cross Street and recorded a blood alcohol content of .20 at Washtenaw County Jail. The matter has been submitted to the county prosecutor’s office.

May 11

Officers stopped a vehicle near Summit Street and Sheridan Street for having expired tags at 10:25 a.m. The suspect driving the vehicle tried to give the officer a false identity. The suspect was arrested for obstructing a criminal investigation and driving with a suspended license. The suspect also had a warrant out for his arrest from the City of Ypsilanti and was turned over to the Ypsilanti Police Department.

Police were called to the College of Business at 8:55 p.m. when it was discovered a garbage can was thrown from an upper floor of the atrium, damaging a flagpole and drywall in lobby. Police are investigating the incident.

May 13

Officers observed a resident being hassled by a suspect passing by his or her house near Cross Street and Ballard Street at 4:34 p.m. The suspect was cited for public intoxication.

A subject near Adams Street and Pearl Street at 5:53 p.m. was found to be heavily intoxicated. The suspect was sent to the hospital via HVA and ticketed.

May 14

Police performed a traffic stop near North Washington Street and Cross Street at 7:08 p.m. It was discovered the suspect was driving on a suspended license and the resulting search of driver’s vehicle produced narcotic paraphernalia and what appeared to be marijuana. The suspect was charged with driving while license suspended and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

Officers discovered a man lying motionless on the ground near Washington Street and Pearl Street at 7:38 p.m. After waking the suspect, it was discovered he was heavily intoxicated and could not function on his own behalf. The suspect was transported immediately to the hospital and was not cited.
