Parking problems persist

As Eastern Michigan University welcomes a record number of new students to the 2013-14 school year, concerns over the amount of available parking are once again raised.


Meeting discusses ways to improve Ypsi community

A public meeting regarding the Ypsilanti Master Plan for the city was held on Monday at the Student Center. The event was sponsored by Eastern Michigan University’s Student Government and EMU’s Office of Government & Community Relations.

Blood drive held at Student Center

The school year has begun, and so has the first blood drive of the year. The American Red Cross was stationed in the Student Center Monday and Tuesday from noon until 5:45 p.m. for students to donate blood.

EMU ‘Theatre on Ice’ team— Eastern Michigan University senior in physical and health education Megan Lepkowski, and the Harmony Theatre Company’s Theatre on Ice team, seized the silver medal at the Nation’s Cup, according to an article on EMU’s website.

Detroit largest city to declare bankruptcy

Stockton, Calif. filed for bankruptcy on June 28, 2012 and San Bernardino, Calif. filed for bankruptcy on July 10, 2012. In neither situation was there any discussion of intervention by Gov. Jerry Brown, a Democrat, or any consideration of bailouts for the two cities.


Speakers celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech was remembered and celebrated by Eastern Michigan University students and faculty on campus when they gathered at the statue of the civil rights pioneer on Wednesday, August 28.
