Zero tolerance policies make zero sense

The message North Andover School District is sending students is a dangerous one. Schools are supposed to provide a learning experience where rights and wrongs are solidified into lifelong values designed to prepare students to function in the real world. Sadly, zero tolerance polices are black-and-white blemishes on the foundation of public education. The real world isn’t so clear-cut, and to make a decision to aid a friend in need and to be punished for it is sickening.

Physician assistant program at EMU— The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant program has met the standards to begin training pupils in the field at Eastern Michigan University.



Disputed overtime goal leads to loss vs. Miami

A controversial goal in double overtime spelled doom for the Eastern Michigan University soccer team, as they were bested by the Miami University RedHawks 1-0 at Scicluna Field. Miami senior midfielder Kayla Zakrzewski found the net with 1:18 remaining in the second overtime to give them the victory.


Everson acts as traditional leader in pool

No matter if he is exhausted in the pool, senior swimmer and co-captain Gus Everson is willing to give his all for the team. All of this in hopes of setting a good example for his teammates on the Eastern Michigan University men’s swimming team with the goal of another Mid-American Conference championship banner hanging from the ceiling of Jones Natatorium.

“Growing Up Muslim in Bombay” is an equal parts autobiography and poem book written by Saleem Peeradina. Peeradina teaches at Siena Heights University in Adrian, a school that he described as being “strategically isolated.”

Aging studies program hosts fall lecture

Eastern Michigan University’s aging studies program hosted their annual fall lecture on Wednesday. They welcomed Dr. Donna Algase, the associate dean of research and evaluation at the University of Toledo, as their guest lecturer. Algase has dedicated her career to dementia-related studies, concentrating specifically on wandering behavior in dementia patients.
