South Korean Student Spotlight—
Eastern Michigan University international student, Sanguen Lee, a double-major in the College of Business at EMU, is just one of many South Korean pupils on campus to immerse themselves in American culture and excel at the college.
According to an article from the Division of Communications Department, Lee completed a two-year program, like other South Korean dual-degree students at Keimyung University in South Korea. These students then proceed to complete the other two-year program at EMU.
Lee is a senior and is earning her bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and supply chain management from EMU. Lee wants to pursue a degree in human-computer interaction, the article says.
She is also the vice president of the 22-member drumming band, Hansori, which perfroms on campus. Lee has also served as EMU’s global ambassador through the Office of International Students, tutors at the Holman Success Center and manages Google Adwords and Analytics, the article says.
New York Times best-seller to speak at EMU—
Tom Meacham, who has written the book “Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power,” will be speaking to students, faculty and staff at the Student Center at Eastern Michigan University.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and students who attend can receive LBC credit.
School of Social Work LEAD conference to come to Lansing—
Students majoring in the field of social work or who might be interested in such a degree can attend the Legislative, Education & Advocacy Day (LEAD) conference in Lansing, Michigan on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013.
The event runs from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be held at the Lansing Center. The cost is $30 and open to the public, but it is not LBC approved.
