Professor Tew named new director of EMU's CSEHR

Eastern Michigan University’s Center for the Study of Equality and Human Rights, whose mission statement is the advancement and promotion of equality and human rights with a primary focus on eliminating homophobia, appointed EMU Professor of communication Michael Tew as the center’s new director, said the center’s current Director Dennis Patrick.

Local farms sprouting up in Ypsi

With the growing concerns of large scale farming and widespread contamination of food sources, the development of smaller, urban, locally grown and sustainable organic gardens and farms have been cropping up all over the Ypsilanti area for a number of years. One such family committed to locally grown and sustainable farming is the Walnut Grove Urban Farm located just south of Eastern Michigan University’s campus in the Normal Park area of Ypsilanti.







Heart Walk raises funds for research

On Saturday, May 19, about 120 Eastern Michigan University faculty, staff, students and their families, including university President Susan Martin, gathered at Washtenaw Community College for the annual Ann Arbor American Heart Association Heart Walk.

Sentence given in unarmed robbery

Washtenaw County Trial Court Judge Archie Brown gave Jeremiah Kena Sawyer a 3-year-and-8-month sentence April 25, for the unarmed robbery of Eastern Michigan University student Darin Thomas Smith on Aug. 24, 2011.

Pancakes help promote aviation program

Alpha Eta Rho, Eastern Michigan University’s aviation fraternity, held their annual Pancake Breakfast and Fly-in on Saturday at Willow Run Airport. Fraternity members, flight students, family, friends and alumni, gathered at the Eagle Flight Center for the event to raise funds and promote the EMU Aviation program.
