Men’s, women’s track teams reign in Simmons-Harvey meet

Both the men’s and women’s track and field teams had strong showings at the University of Michigan’s Simmons-Harvey Invitational Saturday. While not as dominating as their performance at the season-opening Eagle Holiday meet in December, both teams competed very well in a deep field.

EMU swim teams defeat Ball State

After an exhausting four-and-half hour bus ride, the Eastern Michigan University men and women swim and dive teams knocked off the Ball State University Cardinals at the Lewellen Aquatics Center in Muncie, Ind.


Eagles get 1st win over RedHawks since ’97

Many celebrated the long-awaited beginning of the NHL season Saturday, but before the first puck dropped in North America, there was a Mid-American Conference basketball game to be played. The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team defeated the Miami University of Ohio RedHawks 65-58.

Eagle women drop third straight, 70-48 to Miami-Ohio

The Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team, through missed opportunities and lackluster effort, dropped its third consecutive contest Sunday 70-48 to the Miami University of Ohio RedHawks at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio.

Women's basketball loses to Toledo 56-40

Despite junior Natachia Watkins’s best efforts to keep her team in the contest with a game-high 16 points, the Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team dropped its second game in a row 56-40 to the Toledo Rockets at the Convocation Center Wednesday evening.


Police play charity game as NHL gets under way

After 113 heart-breaking days, Detroit Red Wings fans can finally start planning trips to Joe Louis Arena to pay and watch their favorite team. Though most of these players play for the love of the game, there are a few hockey players that may be playing for an even greater cause—hope for a nine-year-old boy.



Eagles stop losing streak, beat CMU

Tuesday was a good day for the Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team. The team ended a four-game losing streak with a 58-52 win over Mid-American Conference rival, the Central Michigan University Chippewas.

Wrestling drops to 5-9 after 3 losses at Pitt

The Eastern Michigan University men’s wrestling team traveled to Pittsburgh Sunday to take part in the Pitt Duals. The Eagles competed against the Lock Haven University Bald Eagles, University of Pittsburgh Panthers and Bloomsburg University Huskies.


Women’s swimming defeats BGSU, remains undefeated

On senior day, Briana Emig captured first in the 200, 500 and 1,000 freestyles in 1 minute, 52.84 seconds, 4:58.58 and 10:20.17, respectively, to help the Eastern Michigan University women’s swim team remain undefeated by knocking off the Bowling Green State University Falcons 166-128 at Jones Natatorium.

Women’s tennis beats Lopers

The Eastern Michigan University women’s tennis team started their regular season on the right foot, taking down the University of Nebraska-Kearney Lopers in a 7-0 shutout Friday. The meet took place inside the Nebraska Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb. All matches were won in two straight sets.

Despite senior Jacob Hanson breaking the record in the 200 backstroke, Eastern Michigan University fell to the top-ranked University of Michigan Wolverines 196-133 Friday.

After a come-from-behind victory against Western Michigan University Thursday, Eastern Michigan University’s women’s basketball team could not keep up the momentum; a lack of ball movement played a significant factor in its loss to the Central Michigan Chippewas 77-51 in Mount Pleasant Sunday.

Eagle women come from behind to beat Broncos 56-52

From bench player to difference maker, freshmen Bianca Cage came on the court in just her fifth career game to score 25 points in 20 minutes and lead the Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team to a come from behind 56-52 win against the Western Michigan Broncos Thursday in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Last second foul spoils MAC opener for Eagles

One foul by senior center Da’Shonte Riley and two free throws by Ball State University turned overtime into a 60-58 loss for the Eastern Michigan University Eagles at the Convocation Center Wednesday night. Despite the tough loss, coach Rob Murphy had a few positive comments about the game and his team.
