Women finish on top at EMU Triangular

The Eastern Michigan women’s track and field team finished in first place with 116 points at the EMU Triangular right here in Ypsilanti on Saturday, Jan.

James Thompson's monster game leads to an EMU road victory as he produced 26 points and 20 rebounds. The Eagles dominated the boards with 44 rebounds in a 74-57 win over the Miamis Redhawks.  The gymnastics team picked up a win against in-state rival Western Michigan, 195.400 to 194.900.

A dominant performance by James Thompson leads the Eastern Michigan Eagles over the Miami Redhawks, 74-57, in Oxford on Saturday. “James (Thompson) had one of the best performances that any one player has had during my time coaching tenure here,” said coach Rob Murphy.

The Eastern Michigan men's basketball team fell to the Akron Zips, 70-63. Guard Ty Toney led the way for the Eagles with 17 points. The wrestling team fell to both Northern Illinois as well as Northern Iowa.

Men’s track and field team competes at Simmons-Harvey Invitational

The Eastern Michigan men’s track team had a strong performance at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Jan. 14. Four Eagles placed in the top-ten in the 60m prelims, as junior Leighton Antonio finished first with a time of 6.92 sec., a personal best, sophomore Tyler Underwood finished third with a time of 6.99 sec., junior Brandon Bolden finished seventh overall with a time of 7.05 seconds, and freshman Sean Beckom finished tenth with a time of 7.12 seconds. Antonio, Underwood, and Bolden all earned spots in the 60m finals, where Antonio finished first with a time of 6.92 seconds, tying his new personal best, and Bolden finished sixth with a time of 7.03 seconds.

Eagles Eye: 1-16

The EMU wrestling team fell to Missouri over the weekend in a 22-12 contest. The Eagles were able to manage four wins of the 10 matches. The Eastern Michigan tennis team competed against Marshall over the weekend.

Eagles fall to no. 9 Missouri at home, 22-12

The Eastern Michigan wrestling team was defeated by the no. nine ranked Missouri Tigers at the Convocation Center on Sunday. The Tigers featured six nationally ranked wrestlers against the two nationally ranked players of Eastern Michigan.

Bond’s' late three-pointer ices win over Ohio

The Eastern Michigan trailed by seven going into the half as a 34 point second-half gave the Eagles the 53-49 victory over the Ohio Bobcats in Athens, Ohio on Saturday. Senior Ty Toney led the way for the Eagles with 17 points while hitting 54 percent of his shots.

EMU picks up its second MAC win on the road

On Tuesday, January 10th, the Eastern Michigan Eagles took down the Bowling Green Falcons in an 81-53 romp on the road in Bowling Green.  The Eagles benefited from a scorching hot shooting performance where the team sank 58 percent of its shots while Bowling Green only managed to make about a third of its.

Wrestling falls to Ohio in MAC opener

Even with three starting seniors winning their own individual matches, the Eastern Michigan wrestling team was unable to keep up with the Ohio Bobcats in a 20-12 loss at the Convocation Center on Friday. With veteran Jacob Davis injured, the Eagles looked to their bench for wrestlers to come in and contribute.

EMU falls to Old Dominion in bowl game, 24-20

The Eastern Michigan football team ended its historic 2016 season at the Popeye’s Bahamas Bowl as the team fell to the Old Dominion Monarchs, 24-20, on Friday. This was the Eagles first bowl game since the 1987 California Bowl against San Jose State.

Poor shooting leads to Eagles loss

After a near 20-point victory over St. Bonaventure, Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team lose at home to the Monmouth University Hawks 75-68, Monday night, at the Convocation Center. “Just really disappointed in our effort as a whole,” said Eagles head coach Fred Castro.

Men’s track opens the season at the Findlay Oiler Open

The Eastern Michigan men’s track team opened up the season on Friday, December 9, at the Findlay Oiler Open in Bloomington, where they sent out two heptathletes and six throwers. Of the six throwers, junior Elijah Albert-Grayer led the Eagles, finishing in fourth place with a toss of 17.51 meters.

Wrestling picks up win and a loss at dual home-opener

The Eastern Michigan wrestling team defeated Cleveland State, 38-12, and then fell to Indiana, 25-12 as they kicked off their home schedule with a tri-dual on Saturday, Dec. 11. Redshirt freshman Noah Gonser dominated the day as he won both of his matches including a win over no. 17 ranked Elijah Oliver of Indiana. He forced a fall against Cleveland State and a 7-3 decision against Oliver.
