Meijer Mania offers games, discounts, food

This year’s Meijer Mania will take place on Thursday, Sept. 6 from 7-10 p.m.

Since 2001, the Meijer store on Carpenter Road in Ypsilanti has partnered with Eastern Michigan University to host the event.

Attendees can participate in various games, contests and entertainment and get free food and discounts on Meijer products. Students can take advantage of the event to get all the school supplies they still need, as it takes place on the second day of classes.

“I have so much to get still, so this should be really helpful,” incoming freshman Kymontae Payne said. He has never attended Meijer Mania before and said he thinks it will also be a great way to meet some new faces.

Meijer Mania attracts over 4,000 EMU students, families, faculty and staff members. According to Meijer employees, it always has a good turnout and is a lot of fun.

There will be free bus transportation offered from 7-10:30 p.m. that day. The pick-up and drop off locations will be at the EMU Student Center Circle Drive and on Ann Street near the First Year Center. There will be signs posted so students can locate them.

“My friends and I will definitely be using this to our advantage,” Payne said.
