01049 -- EMU Echo Editor Endowed Scholarship:  Provides financial support for the current EMU Echo Editor.

02414 -- Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship:  This expendable scholarship is for the benefit of student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.  It will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for the Eastern Echo.  The student should be working to self-finance their education and not be eligible for need-based grants.

00825 -- Student Media Development:  Provides support for the Student Media program.

Documentary filmmaker to speak at EMU—

Dan Habib, a documentary filmmaker and photojournalist from the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire, will be speaking at the John W. Porter Distinguished Chair in Urban Education Speaker Series at Eastern Michigan University.

According to an article from EMU’s Department of Communications Division, not only will Habib be speaking, but there will also be a screening of his film, “Restraint and Seclusion: Hear Our Stories” on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. Roosevelt Hall auditorium on EMU’s campus.

The film illustrates the lives of four pupils with disabilities and the experiences they have endured while attending public schools, the article says.

The event is free and open to the public.

Partnership between Eastern Michigan University and Cooley Law School—

Eastern Michigan University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School are forming four joint-degree programs.

According to an article from EMU’s Department of Communications Division, the programs are garnered to mix key skills and training for the legal world.

The joint program agreements were signed on Oct. 4 on campus by EMU President Susan Martin, and Don LeDuc, president of the law school, the article says.

The programs are:

•J.D./master’s degree in human resource and organizational development

•J.D./master’s degree in educational leadership

•J.D./master’s degree in health administration

•J.D./master’s degree in business administration

Early College Alliance program—

The Early College Alliance program will host a sessions for students in grades 10 or 11. The ECA provides students with the chance to see whether they want to continue on to a post-secondary education. Parents of the students are highly encouraged to attend as well.

Upcoming informational sessions will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on the following dates and locations:

•Chelsea School District – October 23, Chelsea High School Media Center, 740 N. Freer Rd., Chelsea

•Milan Area Schools – November 20, Milan Center for Innovative Studies, 200 Big Red Dr., Milan

•Washtenaw Intermediate School District – November 21, WISD Vogel rooms B & C, 1819 S. Wagner Rd., Ann Arbor

•Eastern Michigan University – November 25, Student Center room 300, 900 Oakwood St., Ypsilanti

•Whitmore Lake Public Schools – December 4, Whitmore Lake High School Library, 7430 Whitmore Lake Rd., Whitmore Lake

•Eastern Michigan University – January 7, 2014, Student Center room 300, 900 Oakwood St., Ypsilanti

•Eastern Michigan University – January 13, 2014, Student Center room 310A, 900 Oakwood St., Ypsilanti
