On Tuesday Sept. 9, the Women’s Resource Center will host Feminist Fest from noon to 3 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.
Feminist Fest is a free event open to the public. However, it is not LBC approved.
Some of the women’s organizations that will be participating in Feminist Fest include the Ann Arbor-based Safe Sex Store and Ann Arbor Derby Dimes.
The Ann Arbor Derby Dimes (A2D2) is a skater-run organization in Ann Arbor that is dedicated to promoting the sport of women’s flat track roller derby. Their goal is to promote athleticism and empowerment and to create a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.
A2D2 is also affiliated with the travel teams Arbor Bruising Co. and Brawlstars along with A2D2’s home team Ypsilanti Vigilantes
Located in Ann Arbor at 1209 S University Ave, Safe Sex Store has provided local communities with information, tools and products necessary for safe sexual health since 1995.
Not only does Safe Sex Store provide products for purchase, but they also provide free information on their website about anything from condoms to women and men’s health.
Safe Sex Store also provides information about Sexual Health and Responsible Education (S.H.A.R.E) seminars that teach safe sex education and also to be responsible for your sexual actions.
Another organization that will be participating in Feminist Fest is SafeHouse.
SafeHouse Center provides support for those impacted by domestic violence or sexual assault. SafeHouse provides free and confidential services for any person victimized that lives or works in Washtenaw County. Their services include emergency shelter for those in danger of being hurt or killed, counseling, legal advocacy and support groups.
For entertainment, there will also be live music from DJ Lena of Ann Arbor.
