Um, the word is “cinch,” not “synch.” Though I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, considering you wrote a lengthy passage about Best Actor without even MENTIONING the veteran actor many consider the front-runner, Jeff Bridges. And that destroys your credibility right there. You’d be just as qualified to pick the winner of the Super Bowl. In 2044.

I’d like to add that if all you know Colin Firth for is rom-coms you haven’t seen much of the work listed in his VC

Wow – your Oscar predictions are pretty clueless, as mentioned above. I hope that you have more arrows in your quiver than just film writing…

Taking into consideration that Morgan Freeman and Meryl Streep are playing historical figures – public figures who were very well know BEFORE their movies were made I think it’s much harder for a portrayal like that rather than Bullock’s LeeAnne what’s her name. Even though Bullock’s movies is technically a bio pic, just like Erin Brockovich, no one knew who this women as until AFTER the movie came out…there less for her to lose. As oppose to Morgan Freeman and Meryl Streep portraying well know figures…they had to get it right, there was no room for error.

Despite the fact that “Inglourious Basterds” is Waltz’s first major English-language film (though he’s famous in Germany), he’s given the kind of role that only a seasoned veteran like Tom Wilkinson could pull off: he’s the epitome of evil, and for whatever reason the audience loves him.
