It’s been less than a month since Eli Savit was sworn into office, and the Washtenaw County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has already released 10 policies the office will now be using in future cases. They range from the elimination of unjust policies to implementing new policies that keep various areas of the justice system accountable.

There is just a little over a month separating us from the illustrious March Madness tournament. As most of us know, the 2020 NCAA tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19, breaking the hearts of college basketball fans everywhere. This year, however, it is looking like unless something drastic happens, we will see a March Madness tournament played in bubbles around the country.

When people talk about the most anticipated projects in video game history, Cyberpunk 2077 is almost always at the top. Since being announced in 2011 by CD Projekt Red, fans everywhere raved over the idea of an open-world RPG that took place in a cybernetic future. That excitement only grew when it was announced that Keanu Reeves would play a pivotal role in the story.

While 2020 was obviously not a great year, music is one thing that brought positivity during the darkness and helped bring people together through the still going hard times.

Dodie is back again with a new release from her upcoming album “Build A Problem”. This song is a release of a fan-favorite titled “Rainbow.” It is just as wonderful as the rest of her music and I am elated to be able to finally download it onto playlists. It is such a gorgeous song that makes me even more excited for the upcoming release in March.

At the top of the last month of 2020, Michigan stands in a precarious position regarding the spread and impacts of COVID-19, along with the rest of the country. Michigan has had up to 404,386 confirmed cases, with 9,947 deaths. In comparison, the United States as a whole has had roughly 14,462,527 confirmed cases of the virus, with 280,135 deaths so far. Further, many Michigan residents are on unemployment insurance because of the pandemic, with up to 3 million unemployment claims since March. But over half a million residents are set to lose that stream of unemployment income under either the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) or the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC). Since these are both provided through the CARES Act, those benefits end when the legislation expires, which in this case is set for Dec. 26.

Like many others, I decided to pick up a show to watch over the recent Thanksgiving break. What better way to spend the time than by relaxing? I personally popped on some episodes of The Great British Bake Off, (or the Great British Baking Show as it’s called on Netflix US) . This is the first year I’ve watched Bake Off during the same year it aired, so I was very excited for it. I was actually able to keep up with some of the tweets and memes as they were coming out.

When I began writing for the Echo about a year ago, one of the first articles I wrote was on why Detroit’s major sports teams are stuck in such a state of mediocrity. I outlined general things they could do to get better again (tanking, upgrading stadiums, competent coaching, etc.) but I didn’t do it specifically for each team. With the Lions’ recent firing of head coach Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn, I think they can finally start to take some steps towards success again.

The past four years under the Trump administration has given many people the sense that American democracy is fragile and threatened. A president so blatantly misusing power and so outwardly discriminatory to so many communities has been shocking to people who had never really had to pay attention to politics before.

If you’re reading this, it’s already too late. You’ve missed your chance to see the videos that made up Unus Annus. Unus Annus was a YouTube project started by Mark “Markiplier” Fischbach and Ethan “CrankGameplays” Nestor. The idea was to upload a video every single day starting Nov. 15, 2019, and delete the channel after the full year. There was no monetisation of these videos, and they’re purely just for the conceptual idea of the project. An idea that seems so simple on the surface became something much bigger than the sum of its parts.

Joe Biden is now president-elect, after he passed the 270 electoral vote threshold from winning Pennsylvania on November 7th. The race had been close the first few days following election day, with Biden gradually expanding his lead later in the week. A record number of Americans cast their vote this year, with an increase in turnout across party lines. Coupled with the devastating handling of the COVID-19 crisis by the Trump administration, one would think Biden and other Democrats would have won in a landslide. But they did not.

Over my ten years of living in the Ypsilanti area, I've been to Sidetrack Bar & Grill many times. Every single time I've been pleased with their food and drinks, and I must also say that they make the best club sandwich that I've ever had. Huge enough to eat in more than one serving and the bacon is perfectly cooked and thick cut.

It’s that time of year again and the fall season is in full swing. As we all know, one of my favorite shows to watch in this season is "Over the Garden Wall." It’s a cult classic loved by many. One of the greatest things about the miniseries is the soundtrack, which was performed by The Blasting Company.
