If you’re like me and have a fantasy team that is currently riddled with injuries and unfortunate bye weeks, then you’ve probably already been shopping the waiver wire desperately looking for help. Our leagues might not be the same in terms of who is available, but I’ve gathered a good list of six players that could give your team a boost if you can pick them up off of waivers.

While sitting on my couch watching Michigan’s season opener against Minnesota, I couldn’t help but feel like the team I was watching was much different than years past. Both sides of the ball played with speed and aggression while still keeping their cool under pressure. Joe Milton looked as calm as a 4th year starter, and while the defense wasn’t perfect, they made huge plays when it mattered. I can’t help but to be intrigued with what the rest of the schedule has to offer them, especially with Wisconsin being a big question mark at the moment with their COVID-19 issues.

Late last Monday night, only hours after the Senate Judiciary Committee confirmed her appointment, Amy Coney Barrett was sworn in as the newest Supreme Court Justice. She fills the seat left vacant by Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s unfortunate passing in September. But seating Barrett on the Supreme Court 8 days before the 2020 presidential election is not a win for the people—it's the last nail in the coffin for conservative’s takeover of the court.

It became clear at the first meeting of the 106th Student Senate that there is a severe lack of understanding of the purpose and an even further lack of knowledge of Student Government's basic rules. In all fairness, many of them are entirely new to the student government, but even "senior" members failed in fully participating constructively.

The second and final Presidential Debate on Oct. 22 may be the most consequential of the two, with severe implications for this election's outcome. Since August, and most likely even before then, most Americans seem to have settled relatively quickly on who they intend on voting for President this November. The polls have been incredibly close in places like Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Florida, all within a 2-5 point margin . With so few undecided voters and the even more difficult task in tracking them, anything could happen on Tuesday, November 3.

As I stroll through the doors into HopCat on a rather dreary night, Prince's "Kiss" is playing on the outdoor speakers. Needless to say, the entrance with my dinner date couldn't have been smoother due to such an introduction.

British music sensation Dodie is back at it again with a beautiful new single. Dodie released her newest song, “Cool Girl” on Oct. 19, the same day she announced her upcoming debut album “Build a Problem”, which will be released on March 5. The announcement was prefaced by about two weeks of videos on her YouTube channel, “doddlevloggle,” in which she slowly knitted the letters for “Build a Problem” in a hang-man style puzzle. This new single shows promise for her upcoming album and I am very excited to hear more from her.

The Big Ten kicks off its highly anticipated season on Saturday, Oct. 23, featuring marquee matchups like Michigan vs. Minnesota and Nebraska vs. Ohio State. It has been a long nine months since our last look at Big Ten football, and every team in the Big Ten has had a longer off-season to improve. Perhaps one of the biggest notes of improvement for Michigan is its offensive potential.

On Monday, Oct. 12, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed into law a package of bills to expunge the criminal records of hundreds of thousands of Michigan residents. These bills aim to break down the barriers that follow having a criminal record. An expungement of criminal records will open up many doors for folks who have not been able to obtain a good paying job, housing, and other necessities because of a past mark on their record.

Many of us may be too young to remember the MTV television show “Clone High”. The show aired originally in 2002, only to be cancelled in 2003. However, there has been a resurgence of the animated comedy on the popular app TikTok. Many videos depict people doing impersonations of the clone version of JFK. Others are just memes to share of the show. The resurgence of the show has created a small community in an obscure corner of the internet and I’m honestly loving it.
