“It’s funny, I always wanted to be the head coach at Eastern Michigan. When I was at Michigan State, we won the national championship in the year 2000 and the head coaching position opened at Eastern Michigan, and I really thought I was going to get that job. I didn’t get the job… and it broke my heart, it hurt.”
In my two year tenure at The Echo, I have written far too many articles bashing Detroit sports and crying about how all they do is lose. While it is true that Detroit doesn’t have any majorly good sports teams currently, they are all looking to be on the upswing. This is most true with the Pistons, a team that hasn’t seen a playoff series win since 2008.
If you’ve been following this year's NCAA March Madness Tournament, then you know that there has been no shortage of upsets. Teams like Illinois, Kansas, and Ohio State have all fallen to low seeded opponents, and now the Sweet Sixteen looks very bizarre. This draft is unique in the fact that it will come in November, which is normally the beginning of an NBA season. The NBA announced on Wednesday, Oct. 14, that they’re aiming for another season starting around Martin Luther King Day and ending in July 2021, which would put them back on their normal season schedule of October through June.

With the first round of the NBA postseason coming to a close, it’s time to look ahead to the second round. There are 14 remaining teams in contention for the illustrious Larry O’Brien trophy, and I predict a wildly entertaining second round. Since the Western Conference won’t start the second round until next week sometime, I can only predict the Eastern Conference matchups in front of us.
With round one of the NBA playoffs coming to a close, three players have made their names in this Orlando bubble through some incredible offensive performances: Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard, and Luka Doncic.
With the NBA restart coming to our living rooms, I thought it would be fitting to name my selections of the All-NBA first, second and third teams. It was a tough process due to the nature of the 2019-2020 season, due to only being able to judge off of ¾ of a full season. Nevertheless, I narrowed down the 15 players I decided were deserving of all-NBA selections.
It was revealed last month that the NBA developmental league, otherwise known as the G-League, has begun offering six figure salaries to top high school prospects. This gives prospects a new pathway to the NBA instead of the conventional NCAA or overseas route. Unlike the NCAA, this path will only be available to exceptionally special prospects.
