02414 -- Scott Stephenson Eastern Echo Scholarship:  This expendable scholarship is for the benefit of student(s) in the School of Communication, Media & Theater Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences.  It will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior EMU student majoring in journalism and working for the Eastern Echo.  The student should be working to self-finance their education and not be eligible for need-based grants.

00825 -- Student Media Development:  Provides support for the Student Media program.

Ypsi Area Online Market opens in response to COVID-19

Ypsilanti-area farmers are collaborating with The Ypsi Area Online Market. Already included on the list are Growing Hope, The Farm at St. Joe’s and Zilke Farm Kitchen. This online market comes to the community during the challenging and unfamiliar time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

GameAbove donates $2 million to April 2020 graduates and incoming freshmen

Shooting at Maria's Liquor and Fine Wine, investigation still ongoing

A shooting occurred outside of Maria’s Liquor and Fine Wine (3344 S Grove St) at the corners of Grove St. and Rawsonville Road in Ypsilanti Charter Township. The shooting took-place around 2:20 p.m. Sunday, April 26.

Summer A classes are fully online but EMU considers 'hybrid' classes for Summer B

Roughly 300 students remain on-campus as the semester nears its end

EMU to sell Owen Building to private buyer, sale to be finalized at April 23 Board of Regents meeting

In an email addressed to EMU students, faculty, and staff, the Office of the President announced the sale of the Owen Building, currently home to EMU's College of Business, to a a private party. The sale is expected to be finalized April 23, 2020 during the university's Board of Regents meeting.

Multiple cars broken into near Prospect Park area, along with a car being stolen from apartment lot

A hooded female has been recorded on numerous security cameras throughout the Prospect Park neighborhood of Ypsilanti following multiple car break-ins in the area. These break-ins, that resulted in thefts, occurred in the early morning of April 21. The break-ins occurred at around 1:30 a.m.

EMU produces intubation boxes in wake of widespread medical supply shortages

The need for medical supplies is apparent across the country. EMU’s College of Engineering and Technology has various teams producing medical supplies for local hospitals. One of these initiatives includes the production of intubation boxes led by John Earl, EMU laboratory manager and support engineer.

Eastern Michigan University instructor passes away due to complications from COVID-19

In an email on April 9, 2020 to Eastern Michigan University students, faculty and staff university president James Smith announced the death of EMU instructor and advisor Marilyn Horace-Moore. Horace-Moore passed away due to complications from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

It has now been over three weeks since Eastern Michigan University cancelled in-person classes due to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic on March 12, 2020. Initially classes were cancelled through March 31, however in an email announcement on March 18, 2020, university president James Smith requested that online courses be extended until the end of the semester.
