As the winter season approaches, staying healthy is a top priority for many. To help, Corner Health Center in Ypsilanti is hosting a flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Friday, Nov. 3 from 5-6 p.m. In addition, a “Wonderland” free family photo event will take place at the same time.
Corner Health, located at 47 North Huron St., Ypsilanti, Mich., is a primary care office that offers a range of services to young people transitioning into adulthood.
“We wanted to provide community need for COVID-19 and flu vaccines, and with the increase of both the coronavirus and the flu, we hope to reduce the number of cases,” Markia Jones, a nurse practitioner for Corner Health said. "I personally feel like it's easy to reduce harm or lower rates of flu and death by being vaccinated as it is just life-saving by saving lives by spreading other diseases to our loved ones.”
Corner Health also provides other services including specialty care and mental health care.
“We have point of care like testing, for STIS or pregnancy and we can set up appointments to follow up, but at the moment we offer vaccines and emergency contraceptives. The community can also schedule follow up appointments as well," said Jones.
Corner Health will have slots throughout November to receive the latest COVID-19 and Flu vaccines. Those interested can visit CornerHealth.org and visit the scheduled appointment link or use the QR code.
“Let the community know we can decrease the number of cases for the flu and reduce being sick by vaccinating members of the community,” Jones said.
Those unable to attend the event can sign up on Corner Health's website. Those who don’t have insurance can call the number 734-484-3600.
