Jessie Reyez released her debut studio album "Before Love Came to Kill Us" earlier this year on March 27. Now, months later, she has created an animated music video for her track “Intruders,” a piece that has only added to the song's beauty.

Over the last week, swift action has been taken to oust Beth Bashert as mayor following a racially insensitive comment. In response to the knowledge that Bashert was being tracked on her decommissioning of Black Ypsilanti leaders and antagonism towards Black City Council members, she claimed she would be “crucified” if she were to vote “no” on the reinstatement of Ka’Ron Gaines to the Human Relations Commission - therefore voting “yes.” The City Council followed by voting “no,” pointing to issues of attendance and a lack of interest and devoting the rest of the meeting to calling Bashert out on her comment.

Ashnikko’s newest release displays her wide variety of talent between its unique sound, clever lyrics, and out-of-the-box music video. The new single “Cry” is one of two tracks so far that are said to be included on the artist's upcoming project.

Raury, a multi-genre 24 year old musical artist from Atlanta, recently released a single titled “Take Back The Power.” As America limps through the ongoing global pandemic and has a light shone on institutionalized racism, there’s more and more hurt to go around every day. While it is easy to wallow in these times, and let them drown you, there are better ways to react. Singer and rapper Raury Tullis (known professionally as Raury) provides a beautiful example of a better way to react- take back the power.

About a month ago, I was on the phone with my best friend and she said “You need to watch this movie ‘365 DNI’.” At the time, the Polish/Italian film was yet to reach Netflix, but has since been added to the popular streaming service. Preceding its more widespread release, I’ve seen tons of posts about the movie and tons of girls gushing over the main character's attractiveness.

Loving yourself and being happy alone should be taught as important from a young age. Often times, society teaches from youth that the main goal in life is to get married and have children, which in my opinion is not good. Stable mental health needs to be seen and talked about as the top priority for everyone and is the key to making anything else work.

As the world is beginning to reopen and the number of COVID-19 cases hopefully continues to decrease, returning back to a semi-normal life can be interesting to say the least. Going from sitting at home doing almost nothing for months, to working, seeing people, and participating in other normal activities feels weird and is a big transition.

We’ve seen this before: massive protests across the county in opposition to police brutality against Black Americans. Unfortunately, we have also seen these protests peak and burn out before any major legislative changes were made. The protests against the murder of George Floyd cannot end in two or three weeks; they must continue until Washington takes action.

The past two weeks have seen collective mourning of George Floyd, collective action in urban, suburban, and rural communities in response, and a surprising level of consensus from Americans on the need for systemic reform in law enforcement.

If you want to hear relatable journal entries turned into hits for the youth, you should listen to Alec Benjamin. His debut album These Two Windows arrived on the last Friday of May, and it truly features a unique consciousness that music needs today. A singer-songwriter capable of creating abundant bedroom pop for significant connections.

The last week has seen nonstop coverage in the news media and on our Twitter feeds about police violence and the protests that have sprung up - across all 50 states - in reaction to the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. Activists and everyday Americans across the nation, and even in my small, rural home county, have taken to the streets to protest the now highly publicized issue of police brutality.

Lately, many have claimed that protests over the death of George Floyd that are turning into riots won’t change anything, and that they disrespect his death. Our president has called protestors “Thugs,” mayors of cities have denounced them, and pop culture figures like T.I and Tyler Perry have called for rioting to stop.

We have recently passed a devastating milestone in this country. Over 100,000 people have lost their lives to the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S, and the situation is one that's only going to get worse before it can begin to get better. As millions across the country are desperate to return to whatever form of normalcy they can, few may be more nervous about what that new normal will hold then college administrators.

While the Covid-19 crisis has left a gaping hole in the sports world, with the NBA suspending their season indefinitely and all other sports following suit, Americans have shifted their sights to the sports content on TV.

Although its title seems to imply the main focus of this show would be drug-related, this new Netflix series is way more than that. White Lines includes themes from friendship and romance to mystery and murder, all of which make for an intriguing program that lures you in, and keeps you watching.

Ever since the 2016 Democratic Primary between former Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders, the idea of “Bernie or Bust” has only grown. The sentiment pushes those on the progressive left to only vote for the Democratic presidential candidate if Sanders is the nominee. The voting tactic hinges on the idea that any establishment, centrist nominee forces leftists to choose between the lesser of two evils; two candidates that are slightly different on some policies (mainly social issues), but at the root of it, still support America’s corrupt economic and political system.

Being stuck at home has certainly taken its toll. The feelings of isolation and loneliness, paired with bouts of "cabin fever", have led to a sense of urgency surrounding our return to normalcy. People are eager to get back outside, reconnect with their friends, and return to their normal activities, but that's a reality that may be years away. With a return to normalcy sitting in the distant future, what can we do now to help survive continued isolation?

With the world now continually and rapidly changing on all of us, the way we used to live our lives is no longer how we currently live our lives.
