Opinion: Sidetrack's food may be good, but their safety practices are lacking

(11/20/20 12:34pm)

Over my ten years of living in the Ypsilanti area, I've been to Sidetrack Bar & Grill many times. Every single time I've been pleased with their food and drinks, and I must also say that they make the best club sandwich that I've ever had. Huge enough to eat in more than one serving and the bacon is perfectly cooked and thick cut.

Opinion: Bounce on over to HopCat, and let the good times roll

(10/29/20 10:39pm)

As I stroll through the doors into HopCat on a rather dreary night, Prince's "Kiss" is playing on the outdoor speakers. Needless to say, the entrance with my dinner date couldn't have been smoother due to such an introduction.

Opinion: You should visit the Nut-mobile

(10/16/20 1:56am)

The Planter's Peanuts Nut-mobile is in town! It'll be here for three days within the area, showing up for fun filled events and following Covid-19 guidelines to a tee.

Opinion: Corner Brewery serves up a good time

(10/12/20 5:44pm)

I arrive at the Corner Brewery right around noon. It's a Friday. The tables are spaced out to promote social distancing and 90's grunge is playing in the background, setting the perfect ambience for a afternoon brew. I order a nice and fresh Buzzsaw and slide into a booth far off to the side.

Opinion: Cultivate is the perfect place to study at

(10/01/20 8:11pm)

I can smell the coffee brewing inside Cultivate as I walk around the block. It’s located right next to Sidetracks, on the outskirts of Depot Town. As I enter the cafe and taphouse, I immediately hear the sound of Frank Sinatra playing and see no shortage of masks being worn.

Opinion: The Thrift Depot is great for bargain shoppers and the community

(09/22/20 5:00pm)

Upon entering The Thrift Depot located at 19 East Cross St Ypsilanti, I felt a very welcoming vibe reverberating within the walls.

Opinion: Belmark Lanes is handling re-opening in a safe, smart way

(09/14/20 2:48pm)

Bowling alleys across the state were given the go-ahead to open back up Wednesday, Sept. 9, after a long stretch of being closed due to COVID-19. During the prolonged shutdown, many owners scratched their heads while wondering how to stay afloat due to the loss of income. Most bowling alleys are family owned businesses, so the effects were devastating to the local residents that ran these establishments.

Opinion: Los Amigos Fiesta is a must for students and community members alike

(09/07/20 3:44pm)

After being greeted at the front desk by two masked smiles, I was promptly seated in a nice booth with wooden dividers above the seats. The dividers were there to promote social distancing.
