Preview: football v. the Bowling Green Falcons

This Saturday, the Eagles will travel down to Ohio to face the Bowling Green Falcons for the opening of the MAC Slate. Bowling Green holds a season record of 1-3 after harsh loss to the University of Memphis (77-3) on Sept. 24.

Why I stand with Colin Kaepernick

For a country that enslaved a race of people for centuries, took away their rights for another 100 years, and continues to heavily incarcerate people with melanin in their skin, I understand why an African-American would not want to stand for the national anthem. Colin Kaepernick shocked the world by taking a knee.

Eagles win despite turnovers

Despite a four interception game by redshirt junior quarterback Todd Porter, Eastern Michigan was able to start their season with a 3-1 record, the best start since 1995. The Eagles were led by the defense that allowed only 10 points over the course of the game while also posting a total of seven tackles-for-loss.

EMU picks up second win of the season in Charlotte

Eastern Michigan (2-1) football faced off against University of North Carolina Charlotte (1-2) and dominated through the passing game and on defense in a 37-19 win in Charlotte. The Eagles traveled down to Charlotte, North Carolina to face off against the 49ers in a non-conference battle.

Sports brief

EMU football falls to Missouri 61-21 as the defense allows 647 yards of offense. Todd Porter throws for 287 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Soccer picks up its second win of the season against Oregon State. After starting off down 0-1 the women come back and win 2-1. Volleyball finishes the College of Charleston Classic by winning two of three.

EMU football to remain in Mid-American Conference for a "long, long time"

Late Tuesday afternoon, an email was sent out to the Eastern Michigan University community from Interim President Donald Loppnow and all members of the Board of Regents addressing the rumors that have been buzzing the past several days in regards to eliminating football or dropping down to a lower division of the NCAA and dropping out of the Mid-American Conference. In this email, the EMU community was assured that Loppnow and the regents are “please to be a member of an outstanding conference,” and any claims of these rumors are false.

Underclassmen shine in Spring Game

The first couple of seasons for Chris Creighton haven’t exactly been years you would see put into the EMU Athletic Hall of Fame, but they were crucial years in the building process of what Creighton envisions for the future of the football program.

Eastern Michigan holding open practice at Ford Field

The University of Michigan isn’t the only football team in Washtenaw County leaving its campus for spring practices. Coach Chris Creighton and the Eastern Michigan football team are keeping things a little more local, as they will head to Ford Field in Detroit for an open practice Monday, Mar. 28.

It’s an exciting yet emotional day for high school seniors signing their national letter of intent to their future schools. It’s also a special day for college coaches who have been recruiting these kids for so long, and it’s finally the day they’ve all been waiting for.
