Do you wake up to a hot cup of coffee every morning? What about a hot pocket or even nothing at all.?
Despite the numerous public service announcements, the average American wakes up to the most important meal of the day and fails to put up a fight to the laziness or conveniences of the small one stop shop meals of the day.
Instead, what we have are people replacing the most important meal of the day with a cup of caffeine.
“Tisk, Tisk,” as five hour energy would say.
In order to surpass the blunder we call our breakfast, here are a few tips to get the most or at least a little out of the a.m. hours and keep your mornings from mourning.
Do not underestimate the power of a thirty-minute head start to your day. Forty-five minutes for those of you who are heavy sleepers.
A thirty to forty-five minute jump start gives you plenty of time to throw on some eggs and waffles. The just-add-water brands of instant-pancake mix are quick and easy when you own a waffle maker and it only takes a couple of minutes to make.
A bowl of cereal is not a full meal, but a bowl of your favorite grain-milk combination is certainly better than a cup of liquid caffeine.
Preparing a small meal and putting it in the fridge for tomorrow can make a great get-up-and-go meal. Put together some fruit and make a batch of sandwiches one day out of your week to have a quick snack pack for the entire week.
In preparation for the future you can also pre-cook breakfast meats like sausages or ham and put it in the fridge so you can heat it up later.
I know we do not traditionally think of fried rice and soups as breakfast food, but reheated leftovers normally have all the grains and protein you need throughout your day, so do not be afraid to heat up some of your dinner from last night for a quick meal this morning.
