Defendant in Ypsi homicide arraigned

A man was arraigned last Thursday in connection with a homicide that occurred Feb. 26 in the 1300 block of Nash Street in Ypsilanti Township.

Darnell Javon Brown, 31, was charged with seven counts including open murder, assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, weapons carrying concealed, weapons firearms possession by felon and weapons felony
firearm.

Marcus Tramale Jones, 33, was shot and murdered outside of his home.
Deputies were later dispatched to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for another subject who had been shot, and determined the two shootings were related, according to a media release.

There were many witnesses to the incident, but no one would come forward to identify the subjects involved.

Even so, Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Detectives said they discovered a lead and gathered critical information and evidence leading to the subsequent arraignment of Brown.

A preliminary exam has been scheduled for 1 p.m. March 30. Jones was remanded to the county jail with no bond.
