EMU to celebrate completion of complex

A celebration will be held Tuesday, October 30 to commemorate the completion of Phase II of the Eastern Michigan University Science Complex. A short program, with refreshments immediately after, will be in room 158 of the complex at 3 p.m.

The $90 million complex, self-funded by the university, is 256,320 square feet with 107 labs. The renovation included new classrooms, labs and offices, as well as a planetarium.

The renovation project was started Dec. 20, 2010, and was completed Aug. 31. The complex is now
fully ADA-compliant and energy-efficient, with improved lighting, acoustics and modernized chemical storage facilities.

The complex houses five departments: chemistry, biology, psychology, physics and astronomy and geography and geology.
