Ypsilanti's Ypsi Pride is set for Sunday, Aug. 30, bringing community, activities and performances to Depot Town.
Originally slated for July 18, the event was postponed due to poor air quality. Many of the events and aspects of the event will remain the same as before. However, some performers and activities will be different.
Beginning at noon, attendees are welcome to Riverside Park for family-focused events and activities. Families can expect to experience storytimes, a theater workshop and other activities.
At 2 p.m., entertainment representing a variety of genres and performances will take place. There will be performances at both the Street Stage and the Freighthouse Stage.
At the Freighthouse, DJ Mercury, Applejack, Versus the City, Unveiled Dance/Rhizome Roots Studio and Dead Daisies will perform 2-6 p.m., then adult-only performances will take place. Comedy hour will be hosted by MX. Kiki, and Burlesque hour, hosted by Kitsu Fondue, will follow.
At the Street Stage, located on Cross Street, performances by more than 20 guests will start at 2 p.m. The order of performances will be as follows: Intro and Land Acknowledgement, The Ypsilanti Youth Choir, My Salamander, Drag King/Thing Hour, Out Loud Chorus, Drag Hour, Baddie Brooks, Tonio Adonis Act 1, Melodic Nocturne Dance Tribe and Tonio Adonis Act 2.
Audience members can tip the performers by cash or Venmo. QR codes for Venmo tips can be found on the schedules. Tips sent after Aug. 30 will go to the Ypsi Pride General Fund.
