Homecoming cookout attracts many

The Eastern Eateries Homecoming Cookout event on Sept. 20 attracted many students with enough hot dogs, brats, chicken sandwiches and other BBQ foods to keep everyone full and happy. While a good number of people traveled through, it was never packed to the point that you couldn’t get food and despite the humidity, it was a good turnout.

“It’s pretty cool,” sophomore Alex Marvin said. “Lots of food for the meal plan, you know. This is pretty good pasta and the hot dogs look good.”

“It’s good,” freshman Shannon Schroder said. “It’s cool that it’s outside.”

There was also a raffle done by DJ Mike which included an Apple TV, gift certificates for the EMU book store and free gift packages from Good Greens. To win, EMU students went to the cookout’s Facebook page and answered the question: “Who is Eastern going to beat at the next football game?”

“It’s a step in the right direction,” said sophomore Josh Hoppstock. “Music is a cool thing. It’s inventive. People are really trying to branch out. It’s new. It’s really well-geared to our generation. They’ve got the great food going on and the free samples. It’s a really smart way to get people in and it was really well done.”
