Second public safety forum to be held this afternoon

Ypsilanti Police Department and other city officials scheduled to attend

Less than a week after a public forum was held at the Student Center at which Eastern Michigan University President Susan Martin, Police Chief Robert Heighes and Vice President for Communications Robert Kraft discussed and answered questions regarding campus safety and the death of EMU student-athlete Demarius Reed, the university announced it would be holding another forum this afternoon.

This forum, scheduled for 4 p.m., will also include Ypsilanti Interim Police Chief Tony DiGiusti. According to an e-mail sent to university students and employees, DiGiusti and other city leaders will be present to answer questions relating to the investigation as well as off-campus safety.

The forum is scheduled to take place in the ballroom on the second floor of the student center and is open to the public.
