Kelly Clarkson’s new album, “Wrapped in Red,” would make for a great stocking stuffer for Christmas music lovers.

Kelly Clarkson releases Christmas album

The season of tinsel covered trees and maxed-out credit cards has arrived. Every year, the gifts may change from one glitzy electronic to the next, but there is one thing that stays consistent no matter what – the music.

We have all jammed out to 100.3 on the way to class listening to the classics sung by Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby, but every year it becomes harder than the last for a modern star to have a breakthrough hit. We know the competition is hot with other female vocalists such as Mariah Carey and Taylor Swift both having popular songs that play on the radio, but this year we have a new familiar voice among the rest. We all know her, we all love her. This year, Kelly Clarkson is “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” with her new album “Wrapped in Red.”

Receiving a solid 4.5 rating on Amazon, “Wrapped in Red” is highly recommended as a stocking stuffer this holiday season. The single off the album, “Underneath the Tree,” seems to be the most popular, catching the audience with an upbeat rhythm and lyrics of love. Although the sound is similar to Mariah Carey’s 1994 hit “All I Want For Christmas is You,” Clarkson has a fresh spin on the topic of missing that special someone over the holidays. “Underneath the Tree” was at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top 200 for the holiday season, putting our favorite goldilocks up there with the best.

Whether you are looking for a dance-filled winter break or a slow lullaby for wrapping your gifts, this is the album for you. The track listing features many classics such as “Run Run Rudolph,” “Please Be Home for Christmas,” “Blue Christmas” and “My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music.” Clarkson also included many original songs, two of which are “4 Carats” and my personal favorite, “Winter Dreams (Brandon’s Song).”
