WRC holds meet and greet for new women on campus

Eastern Michigan University’s Women’s Resource Center held a reception Monday for all new or promoted women staff and faculty at EMU.

Ellen Lassiter Collier, director of the WRC hosted the event. This is Collier’s second year at EMU and the second year the event has taken place.

“It started as a way for me to meet the people on campus,” Collier said.

Last year she invited all the new staff and faculty because she herself was new. This year she extended the invitation to women who were also promoted.

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. women from all different departments were invited to walk in, meet the new faces on campus, and have a place to get to know one another. Debbie Gombert a Faculty member from the Music Therapy and Dance department thought this event was a great idea.

“I like networking with strong women,” Gombert said.

The Women’s Resource Center is dedicated to supporting and celebrating the diverse group of women on campus. All the women that came were excited they worked on a campus that took women seriously and showed support for each other.

The Women’s Resource Center is located in the Student Center room 356. For information, services, and events you can find them on the Eastern Michigan website or by visiting the office.
