Police blotter, Oct. 4

Eastern Michigan University's Department of Public Safety dealt with over the course of the week.

Saturday, Sept. 26.

Police responded, at 12:04 a.m. to reports of a fight in the streets at the corner of Ballard and Cross Streets, east of campus. One of the two men, neither of which are believed to be EMU students fled and the other was taken to St. Joe's hospital for minor scrapes. There have been no arrests.

Police responded to a report of students "swaggering" on camera at 4:36 a.m. in a parking lot on the northwest side of campus. Police found 2 EMU students, 1 of whom was intoxicated. The student was referred to the Office of Student Conduct. The case is closed and no ticket or citation was filed.

Sunday, Sept. 27.

Two minors, both EMU students, were cited for possession of alcohol and marijuana, at 12:31 a.m. The police responded to complains of the smell of marijuana in Hoyt tower and discovered them. No charges were filed. They were referred to the Office of Student conduct.

Police also cited a minor consuming alcohol in Downing hall, at 2:41 a.m. The EMU student was taken to St. Joe's hospital for treatment and they have contacted the Office of Student Conduct.

A non-EMU student moving out of West view apartments reported a robbery at 10:33 a.m. There was a disagreement over who owned a particular cell phone and someone took the phone off him and left the area. The man then reported it to he Department of Public Safety.

A student in Downing reported a stolen PS4, and related property, at 4:17 p.m. The case is still open, and the suspect is believed to also be an EMU student. The Office of Student Conduct has not been notified, but police are still investigating.

Monday, Sept. 28.

The Department of Public Safety assisted in an arrest with the Ypsilanti Police Department at 12:12 AM, Monday. The assault at the corner of Louise and Gregory Streets is still under investigation by the Ypsilanti Police Department. Therefore the EMU Department of Public Safety could not comment on it.

There was a damage of property at the parking structure reported on September 28th. The entrance gate was broken as someone tried to get in. Police were unsure if it was an EMU student or not. The police have concluded that there was no criminal intent and have decided not to pursue charges.

Tuesday, Sept. 29.

A hang tag was stolen from a vehicle in a parking lot on the north side of campus. It was reported to police by the victim, an EMU student, at 12:49 p.m. The victim says it could have happened between 9:15 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. The door lock was broken. Police are still investigating.

An EMU student was found with marijuana in Pittman hall at 2:04 PM. The police were responding to complaints of the smell. There were no citations or tickets and the student has been referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
