Police Blotter, Oct. 7

Wednesday, Sept. 30

Eastern Michigan University's Department of Public Safety arrested a 20 year old man, who is not an EMU student, at the corner of Huron River Drive & Lowell Street, Wednesday. What started out as a traffic stop, at 4:31 p.m. ended in the officers finding marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia. There were no other arrests made. The case is still open.

An EMU student reported a stolen birthday card, key chain and Ethernet cord to police, Wednesday afternoon, at 4:57 p.m. The student said he received it in an envelope in Pittman Hall latter noticed the contents were stolen. The case is still open and there is no suspect.

Police were alerted to two EMU students smoking marijuana, Wednesday in Pittman Hall. The police found marijuana and drug paraphernalia. There was no arrest or ticket at the 6:38 p.m. incident, but student conduct will be notified. The case has been closed.

A 29 year old man was found trespassing at the EMU Student Center, Wednesday, September 30th. Although not an EMU student, the man is well known to the police, for a history of misconduct. While he was not arrested, the police escorted him off EMU property and will be seeking trespassing charges. The case remains open.

Thursday, Oct. 1

Someone in EMU's athletics department reported a theft from the swim team's lockers at 9:20 a.m. Thursday. Since the report was made anonymously, the police said they do not have a suspect. The case remains open.

An EMU student asked for medical assistance near McKenny Hall, at 4:10 p.m, Thursday. The student said he had been smoking marijuana and "was dizzy." The police turned him over to Huron Valley Ambulance and he was taken to the hospital. DPS will not be seeking charges. The case has been closed. Student conduct has been contacted.

There was a hit and run of a parked vehicle, in the north lot of campus, Thursday. A 55-year-old EMU woman parked her car early in the morning, went about her business on campus and found substantial damage to her car when she returned. She reported it to DPS at 4:48 p.m. who are reviewing 8 hours of security camera footage. There is no suspect at the moment and the case remains open.

Another EMU student reported found damage to her car in South Oakwood Lot, Thursday. The 20 year old student found scratches in the body work, which she reported to police at 4:48 p.m. The case remains open and the police are reviewing security footage for this investigation as well.

Two EMU students were caught using marijuana at Westview Apartments, Thursday, at 5:54 p.m. There were no arrests or tickets. Student affairs will be notified.

Police came across a "significantly drunk" man around the corner of Ballard & Pearl, at 6:42 p.m. Thursday. He was not an EMU student. Although, he was arrested for a number of unspecified warrants in Ann Arbor. Police escorted him to St. Joseph's Mercy hospital. The case is closed.

Friday, Oct. 2

An 18 year old EMU student was intoxicated and vomiting in Putnam Hall, at 2:38 a.m. Friday. Another student complained to police, who took the sick student to St. Joseph Mercy hospital and closed the case. The student received a ticket for underage possession and student conduct will be informed.

Four high school students were involved in assault case at Ryanearson stadium, Friday night. Police say that after a game between Ypsilanti High School and Lincoln High School, at 9:57 p.m. the four girls were involved in a confrontation about an ex-boyfriend. The case remains open and police say one of the participants wants to press charges.
