RHA hosted the movie night as part of the Code Green Homecoming festivities.

Residence Housing Association shows 'Spy'

One hundred and fifty students attended the showing of Spy, starring Melissa McCarthy, Thursday night in the Student Center auditorium.

McCarthy portrays a CIA analyst that must go undercover to avenge the death of her partner. Spy is an action-packed film filled with unexpected twists and humor. It was chosen because it fit well with this year’s homecoming theme: EMU Code Green.

Aniecia Canty, freshman finance major, is a McCarthy fan.

“Melissa McCarthy’s whole act was amazing,” Canty said.

The audience was laughing throughout the entire movie – there was never a silent moment in the two-hour showing.

Rosalie Klein, freshman linguistics major, said she enjoyed the event.

“It was a good movie and I liked the humor,” Klein said.

Bria Morrow, freshman social work major, already saw the movie but still had fun.

“It was hilarious,” Moore said. “Definitely worth watching a second time.”

Brianna Moore, senior sports performance and fitness entrepreneurship major, was one of the students running the event. The event was a success, she said.

“The turnout was really good,” Moore said. “I think we’re going to receive positive feedback.”

The Residence Housing Association, which sponsored the free showing, provided students with popcorn.

Usually the movie nights in the Student Center are held at 8 p.m. on Fridays, however, this movie was on a Thursday night because of the homecoming week festivities.

Every movie free admission and is open to the public. To see the upcoming showings schedule, visit emich.edu/campuslife/calenders/movies.

A few of the films being shown for the rest of the semester include: Ant-Man, Minions, Unfriended, Sinister 2, Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation and Vacation.
