Students could take a break from studying to dance at Club Halle, Thursday night.

Club Halle offers students a break from studying

Student Government invited students to Club Halle to take a break from their studies before finals week on Thursday in the Bowen Field House.

“[I came tonight] to have some fun and get away from homework,” sophomore special education major Taylor Baugh said.

After months of planning and a day of setting up, the field house was filled with inflatables, cotton candy and a DJ from 6-9 p.m.

“We’ve been planning this for about 5 months,” Student Body Vice President Anjali Martin said. “All of the executive staff from student government along with the Senators have pitched in. Everyone is here helping tonight and running it.”

In addition to this event, Club Halle is also providing longer hours at the library for finals week.

“We have the library open 24 hours, which we’re still having this year, but we wanted to change it from more of a study focus to a true break and a stress-free focus,” Martin said.

Freshman occupational therapy major Kelly Evak came to the event while on her way to the library to start to study for finals.

“I came because it was advertised extremely well and it looked really fun from the outside,” Evak said.

For other students, it wasn’t their first time coming to Club Halle’s events to take a break from being stressed, but an annual event since coming to Eastern.

“I think this is a good event to relieve stress before finals, because it is a very stressful time right now,” said senior social work major Kristine Elmore. “I also think it is fun to get out of your room and do something and then go back to studying.”

The ultimate goal was to give students another opportunity to relax and take a break before getting ready to take finals to close the semester.

“One of the things we hear from students is ‘Oh my gosh I’m so stressed’ and as students we get that, we’re stressed too,” Martin said. “Sometimes, at least in my experience, the best thing to do is to take a break, get away from things and recharge your batteries, have fun, let some steam off and then go back at it again.”
