Eastern Michigan University has a lot of activities going on around campus leading up to MLK day.

On Thursday Jan. 14 there will be a Commemorative March for Dr. King. The march will start at the south entrance of the Student Center at 4:30 p.m. Free hot chocolate will be available to students as they take a guided tour through campus.

There will be a free group fitness class called SQUAT! at the Rec/IM at 5:30 p.m. All levels of physicality are welcomed, according to the EMU calendar. This will require registration beforehand and your E-card.

EMU's MLK Day will continue Thursday, with a discussion called “Why Your Vote Matters.” This will start at 6:00 p.m. in the Student Center Auditorium. It will include a 5-person panel from the county, student government and faculty. This is free and LBC approved.

The Women in LeadHERship Conference will be going on all day, Friday the 15th. The EMU Calendar described this conference, “for all women on campus to come together and learn about how to be an effective leader.” This is free and LBC approved.

EMU students will be able to give back to the community with the MLK Day of Service, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday. This Vision Volunteer Center charitable opportunity is also a part of MLK Day. Interested students will gather in the Student Center Ballroom and be assigned to several charities and good causes at random. Come dressed for working outdoors. This is free and LBC approved.
