Monday, Jan. 4

  • There are no incidents registered on the EMU Crime Log for Monday, Jan. 4.

Tuesday, Jan. 5

  • Student Housing reported smelling marijuana in Hoyt. From 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. two people were found consuming alcohol and marijuana. One of them was an EMU student. That student has been handed over to the Office of Student Conduct.

Wednesday, Jan. 6

  • DPS pulled over a car driving the wrong way on Cross Street, near Ballard, at 12:57 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6. The car smelled strongly of marijuana. They searched the vehicle, which was not being driven by an EMU student, and found both marijuana and a handgun. DPS confiscated both, arrested the suspect and ultimately released him. They are seeking charges with the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office.
  • Student Housing reported a strong smell of marijuana at Westview Apartments, at 8:08 p.m. DPS determined the smell was coming from the basement of one of the buildings, however no one was found in the basement.
