Police Blotter, Jan. 13

Eastern Michigan University's Department of Public Safety has had a number of light drug possessions and drinking charges to deal with over the last few days.

Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016.

  • Roommates in Hill exchanged messages with each other over social media. One of the students felt threatened and called DPS at 12:58 a.m. Student housing and student conduct will handle this case.
  • DPS caught someone using a credit card fraudulently at the Student Center at 11:33 a.m. The DECA student was caught trying to buy food. The unidentified victim does not want to press charges, but DPS is going to submit charges for review to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office.
  • A student came back from break to find some of their possessions were gone from their Phelps dorm room. This would have happened sometime between 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 19 and 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 5.

Friday, Jan. 8, 2016.

  • A car with two people inside was pulled over for a traffic violation by the corner of Michigan Avenue and Hamilton Street. Officers found open intoxicants in the car at 12:52 a.m. One of the non-EMU students had warrants out for their arrest. That person was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail.
  • Dispatch received a call at 5:57 a.m. about two people screaming inside a car in Mayhew Lot. When they got there they found two intoxicated people, one of whom was an EMU student. One of them was then taken to St. Joseph Mercy's Hospital. DPS didn't say if it was the student or the non-student.
  • DPS pulled over a car near the corner of Ballard and Cross at 7:48 p.m. There were four non-EMU students in the car. One of them was arrested on a bench warrant, two were released with citations and one had to be taken to St. Joseph Mercy's Hospital.
  • A former EMU student was pulled over in a routine traffic stop, near the corner of Ballard and Cross, at 9:39 p.m. The officer could smell marijuana and found it. The ex-student was given a citation for paraphernalia.
  • A car was pulled over for a traffic stop, near Ballard and Cross Street at 9:46 p.m. This was a non-student whose car smelled like marijuana. DPS found it and cited the driver for narcotic paraphernalia.
  • Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016.
  • DPS was sent to Putnam at 2:11 a.m. An underage EMU student had consumed alcohol. The student had to be taken to St. Joseph Mercy's Hospital. This case has been handed over to student conduct.
  • Student housing called DPS for a loud argument between two roommates in Walton at 2:18 a.m. They have handed the case over to student housing and student conduct.
  • An underage intoxicated student was found in Downing at 5:15 a.m. The student was taken to St. Joseph Mercy's Hospital by HVA ambulance. This case has gone to student conduct.

Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016.

  • Dispatch was called for the smell of marijuana at 12:51 a.m. in Phelps. The student was found and admitted to smoking pot. The case has been given to student conduct.
  • DPS was called to investigate a party in Village building E, at 1:43 a.m. An underage student was there in possession of alcohol. The case has been given to student conduct.
  • DPS was also called to Hill at 10:45 p.m. because of the smell of marijuana in the hall. They found the student who had smoked it, and some remaining marijuana. The student has been referred to student conduct.
