The 2017 Winter Fest was held in Eastern Michigan University's student center. The Winter Fest is an event where numerous student organizations gathered to host information tables for students interested in being more involved on campus.
"The fest's target audience is mostly the transfer students and people who missed the fajita fest in September," Student Org. and Leadership Assistant, Emily Schwinghamer said.
Schwinghamer then explained that the Winter Fest was something fun for students and took a lot of time to plan. The event lasted from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
"We've been working on the Winter Fest for maybe 2 months or so. We put our plans in place all year round for this event each year," said Schwinghamer.
More than hundreds of students attended the Winter Fest to collect information on different student groups, socialize, and create hand sculptures out of wax.
Students were able to sign the email list for any of the organizations they had interest in. The list will later be used so students can receive more information on upcoming events.
"There are about 100 organizations here at the Winter Fest, which means about 100 more are not here," said Peer Engagement Coach, Joel Williams.
Student organization information can be found online, and peer engagement coaches such as Williams are here to help for students that missed Winter Fest, or students looking for organizations that were not in attendance.
"The Peer Engagement Coaches help students look for other org's that might suit them on the Eagle Sync website," said Williams.
