Volleyball returned to the Convocation Center at Eastern Michigan University Oct.14 and Oct. 15, where the Eagles played against the Miami Ohio in a series opener.

As reported by EMU Athletics, Thursday's and Friday's matches were the 60th and 61st meetings between the Eagles and RedHawks.

During the first game of the series against Miami Ohio Oct. 14, the Eagles were able to set the tone during the first set with a huge lead of eight points, winning 25-17 and contributing to their overall 3-2 outcome.

Miami Ohio secured a victory during the second set making the match 1-1 after the Eagles fell short 30-28.

During the third set, the Eagles continued to trail in points behind the RedHawks who finished 25-16.

Eastern Michigan was not able to recover during the fourth set. The final score was 25-18, making their new season record 8-11 overall.

Returning for a second day of play Oct.15, the Eagles sought redemption after their 3-2 loss to Miami Oct. 14. On the road to redemption, the Eagles fell short 25-16 in the first set.

However, the Eagles quickly adjusted in the second set, successfully securing a 25-22 win and tying the match 1-1. Eastern Michigan continued to dominate on the court throughout the game and came out victorious in sets three and four, contributing to their new season record 8-11 overall and 3-5 in Mid-American Conference play.

EMU Athletics reports that since the 1980 season when EMU started competing in the MAC, EMU has won one MAC Tournament title (2018) and one MAC West title (2005). Under Darcy Dorton, the Eagles hold a 16-26 MAC record.
