Being college students, we are continuously going through stressful times. Not having the best sleep schedule, consuming a great amount of caffeine, and having no free time. However, you can fix that by having someone to have your back.
EMU offers many ways to help students when things get difficult. There are many ways to get help, but I will talk specifically about the ones that worked the best for me. To start have a mentor; a mentor is a student who studies at EMU, with an experience close to yours thus they can guide you through your journey, answer questions, and might even become your best friend one day! I found having a mentor to be a good idea because they are also a student and sometimes know more than an advisor because they might have been in your place before. So, think about getting yourself a mentor and you won't regret it.
Another thing that was a relief during some of my stressful times was being able to meet with advisors. Advisors can fill many blanks by answering questions that a student might have about classes or careers. In my case, as a student coming from outside the USA and everything being new to me, my advisor was the person who helped me take my first steps until I became ready to stand up by myself! I suggest that every student meets an advisor at least once a semester.
Last but not least, The University Writing Center. Being a college student requires a ton of writing. In all classes, you will be writing reflection papers, research papers, reports, etc. Sometimes you will find it hard to write a single page when the requirement is fifteen pages. In those times, I strongly suggest that you schedule an appointment at the writing center. I did that and I won't hesitate to do it again because they give super helpful feedback. They will also help you in any stage of writing whether it's the introduction or revising.
With these tips and some studying, I was able to get straight A's on my first semester without being too stressed. I believe you can do so too!
