Many of you may be familiar with the show “How I Met Your Mother”. If not, allow me to share a short premise with you.

Premise of HIMYM

The show follows Ted, a young man in New York, who is trying to find his one true love. His two closest friends, Lily and Marshall, have been together since college. Barney, another friend, does not seem to care about true love but instead sleeping with different girls. Shortly into season one, we meet Robin who focuses heavily on her career. Future Ted is telling his two children how he met their mother.

Premise of HIMYF

So far, the new show “How I Met Your Father” only has two episodes. Sophie is the main character. She believes in true love and goes on many Tinder dates in the attempts to find her love. Valentina finds love at a fashion show in London. Her love is very exotic and fast paced, so far. Jesse is a cab driver who very recently proposed to his (now ex) girlfriend and was denied. To make matters worse, the video is a viral hit. Sid is Jesse’s best friend. He has recently proposed to his girlfriend! She accepted but had to immediately fly back to L.A. for work.

Feedback

Both of these shows have very similar premises. In addition, the characters in “How I Met Your Father” have parallels to the characters in “How I Met Your Mother”. The newer show is set in 2022 and includes modern references. So far I am really pleased with “How I Met Your Father”; it is similar enough to “How I Met Your Mother” yet different enough to be its own show.

Based on HIMYM I project that the show will continue to show Sophie attempting to find her “perfect guy”. She will probably date Jesse just like Ted and Robin dated in HIMYM. At the end of the series, we will find out who the father is.

Rating

Other than that the characters being dynamic, the setting is exquisite and the plot is captivating. However, I do think the creators can add more differences between HIMYM and HIMYF to make it more complex. I give this series a 4 out of 5.
