EMU's Samson Evans scores NFL Rookie Minicamp spot with Miami Dolphins

Fourth EMU Player Lands NFL Opportunity Post 2024 Draft

Eastern Michigan University's running back, Samson Evans, (Crystal Lake, Illinois) earned a coveted spot at the Miami Dolphins rookie minicamp, announced on April 29.

Evans, a record-setter as the program's all-time touchdown leader, stands among an elite group of four running backs nationally honored with College Sports Communicators Academic All-America accolades this year.

Evans left a mark on EMU football amassing 2,319 career yards and an impressive 41 touchdowns across 40 career games. His stellar performance in the 2023 season, tallying 635 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, cemented his status as a standout player, marking the third consecutive season of double-digit scores and making him the first EMU player to achieve this feat.

With 41 scores to his name, Evans ranks second in rushing touchdowns among all active FBS players and fourth in total touchdowns.

Not only a force on the field, Evans shines academically, earning his first national academic award and becoming the fourth EMU football player to secure a spot on the esteemed CSC Academic All-America roster. This marks the fifth honor overall for EMU football with Evans following in the footsteps of previous standouts like Mike Van Hoeven and Cory Annett.

As Eastern Michigan continues its legacy of producing top-tier NFL talent, with six players drafted and 30 more securing free-agent or mini-camp deals since 2015, the football community eagerly awaits further updates on EMU's rising stars.
